Fisher College Awards Honorary Doctorate to Pedro & Carolina Martinez for their humanitarian work

BOSTON, MA — On Saturday, May 10, 2025, MLB Hall of Famer and Boston Red Sox legend Pedro Martínez, alongside his wife, Carolina Martínez, served as distinguished speakers at Fisher College’s 121st Undergraduate Commencement Ceremony. In recognition of their outstanding humanitarian efforts in Boston and beyond through the Pedro Martínez Foundation, both were awarded Honorary Doctorates in Humane Letters.

Following his legendary career as a World Series champion and one of the most dominant starting pitchers of his era, Martínez, together with his wife, has dedicated his life to serving youth in Boston and the Dominican Republic through the Pedro Martinez Foundation, by providing opportunities to those in need through impactful programs in education, health, and sports.

In honor of their contributions, Fisher College established a $5,000 scholarship in partnership with the Pedro Martínez Foundation.
